Tucked into Surfwood -- one of Mendocino's most desirable neighborhoods, this 2-bedroom, 2.5 bath home is a rare find with real bones, ready for a new steward to bring it back to its former glory. Step through the solid oak entry door and a striking stained-glass window opens into the great room, where tall windows frame ocean views. A gas fireplace anchors the living area, hardwood floors run throughout, and Japanese mid-century touches -- including torii-style door frames -- hint at the craftsmanship this home was built with.Built in 1964 and renovated in the '90s, the home needs some love and attention but has a character-filled layout that unfolds into cozy nooks at every turn -- the kind of home that rewards vision and a bit of work with something truly special. The second bedroom has a fun loft with built-in bookcases, ideal for a kid's room or guest space. Upstairs, the office is a standout: an even better ocean view, full bathroom, plus a private balcony for sunny afternoons or watching a storm roll in. Outside, a detached garage adds convenience, and the back lot -- anchored by a small cluster of redwoods -- offers room to landscape and build out gorgeous outdoor living space. Bring your imagination and craftsmanship -- this one is worth the investment.
